Dr. Csaba Sükösd
Honorary University Professor
Department of Nuclear Techniques
Introduction
Dr. Csaba Sükösd started his work at BME NTI in 1992, when he changed his previous job at the Department of Atomic Physics, Eötvös Loránd University. From 1998 to 2011 he was the head of the BME Department of Nuclear Techniques, and from 1994 to 2013 he was also the deputy director of the NTI. His research areas are different aspects of experimental nuclear physics. During his research years abroad, he investigated the giant resonances of nuclei as well as astrophysically significant inverse kinematics measurements with radioactive ion beams. He embarked on research into the radon problem. From the very beginning of his career, he has been seriously interested in teaching physics at all levels, from primary school to universities and PhD students. He is currently an active participant and regular speaker at the annual National Physics Teacher Conference, he has led 40 interested physics teachers to CERN for a 9 days long upgrading program for 10 years, and has been leading the annual Leo Szilárd Modern Physics Competition for high school students since 2003. His international contact network has been extensive, he was a member of the governing body of the European Nuclear Education Network (ENEN) for many years and was the main organizer of the international Eugene Wigner Course for Reactor Physics Experiments. He is member of the GIREP (Groupe International de Recherche sur l'Enseignement de la Physique), and was one of the main organizers of the big international GIREP2019 conference on physics education held in Budapest from 1-5 July 2019. He speaks English, German and French. Since retiring in 2013, he has been teaching courses voluntarily as an honorary university professor.
